"Morning Ballet" was created in 2019 with soft pastel on paper and the original piece measures approx. 12.5" x 16". A dancer’s feet rest in a pool of fractured sunlight, the delicate arches of her satin pointe shoes glowing like sculpted marble under the dawn’s golden fingers. The ribbons once tied for performance now spiral freely in loose coils around her ankles as the dancer prepares to move on with her day after morning practice. Dust motes drift through slanting beams that stripe the floor, catching on the shoes’ satin, highlighting the shoes’ ethereal beauty against their very human wear.
