"Buffalo in Winter"
"Buffalo in Winter" is a mixed media piece created with acrylic and soft pastels. on paper. Five massive bison stand shoulder-to-shoulder in deep snow, their frost-laden fur and steaming breath creating an aura of raw power. Each animal faces the viewer with unwavering intensity, dark eyes locked in a collective challenge. Snow clings to their shaggy coats in thick clumps, emphasizing the muscular bulk beneath.
The lead bull lowers his massive head slightly, curved horns gleaming with icy highlights. Behind him, younger members of the herd press close, their own horns angled outward like a fortress of bone and muscle. The snow around their hooves is churned and packed from their defensive stance.
Cold morning light sharpens every detail, from the vapor rising from flared nostrils to the individual icicles hanging from beards and fur.
